Barnett makes metal chair cushions to fit Tolix chairs! Our Tolix chair cushion is made in a smaller 14" x 14" size to fit the distinctive metal chairs, and feature 2 long ties located so you can tie them behind the center of the chair.
Before you purchase cushions for metal chairs made in the Tolix style, be sure to measure your chair. Our Industrial cushions (shown on this page) are sized specially to fit most table-height Tolix chairs, which are about 14" x 14" (smaller than most traditional dining chairs). So, our standard dining chair cushions would be too large for most Tolix chairs, although some brands make industrial chairs with larger seats. You should also know that the counter-height industrial chairs are often made in a smaller 12" x 12" size. If you have bar-height Tolix chairs please see our Tolix bar stool cushions.
We strongly recommend requesting fabric swatches before ordering tolix chair cushions online. The way colors appear on your screen may differ than the way they appear in person, due to factors such as the angle at which you hold your screen, your display settings, and the brand or age of your device.
You've seen them in cafes, outside bistros, and in stylish industrial decor homes from Brooklyn to San Francisco. The splat back chairs with their iconic curved backs and industrial style legs are coming to be known as Tolix style chairs.
In 1934, French designer Xavier Pauchard introduced the "A Chair", which was produced in his workshop named The Tolix Company. An early adopter of the galvanization technique, Pachard's steel industrial chairs became ubiquitous in restaurants and eateries because they were affordable, durable, stackable, easy to clean, and suitable for indoor or outdoor dining al fresco. In recent years the chairs have made a comeback in modern homes, together with the counter-height dining chairs and bar stools made in the same style.
