Frequently Asked Questions about Tolix Chair Cushions
I'm looking for cushions that fit farmhouse metal chairs, how do I know these cushions will fit?
We designed our Tolix chair cushions to fit most brands of table-height Tolix style chairs, but not all brands are the same. It's important to measure the seat of your chair before ordering. If you're shopping for cushions for bar-height Tolix chairs it's especially important to measure because this style of chair often requires our smaller 12" x 12" cushion for Tolix bar stools.
Are these cushions safe to use on outdoor metal chairs?
Some of the cushions in this collection are safe to use on outdoor Tolix chairs, visit this link to apply a filter and view only the outdoor 14" cushions.
History of the Tolix Chair
You've seen them in cafes, outside bistros, and in stylish industrial decor homes from Brooklyn to San Francisco. Sometimes called metal farmhouse chairs, the splat back chairs with their iconic curved metal frame and industrial style legs are coming to be known as Tolix style chairs.
In 1934, French designer Xavier Pauchard introduced the "A Chair", which was produced in his workshop named The Tolix Company. An early adopter of the galvanization technique, Pachard's steel industrial chairs became ubiquitous in restaurants and eateries because they were affordable, durable, stackable, easy to clean, and suitable for indoor or outdoor dining al fresco. In recent years the chairs have made a comeback in modern homes.
