Why buy dining chair cushions from Barnett Home Decor?

Made in USA with your choice of imported or American-made fabrics

Unlike some competitors who claim to be Made in America, but outsource part of their manufacturing process, our cushions are designed, cut, sewn, filled, and finished here at our historic Bellevue Mills facility in Macon, Georgia, USA. You can rest easy purchasing from us, knowing that you're purchasing a product made under safe working conditions, with fair wages and reasonable working hours. If you like to support American-made brands, you may also be pleased to learn that Barnett Home Decor is a family-owned, women-led brand.

Made by skilled sewers, not mass-produced by automation

Our cushions are crafted to old-fashioned standards of quality with lock-stitched seams and triple-stitched ties for greater durability.

What's the difference between lock-stitched seams and chain-stitched seams? Chain-stitch is the string you pull to open a bag of charcoal briquettes or a bag of dog food. It saves a manufacturer a lot of time and money to use chain-stitch, but we refuse to cut corners. We insist on more durable lock-stitch seams.

Triple-stitched ties ensure that your chair pad ties won't easily pop off if someone scoots in their seat at the dining table.

We use latex foam fill, for a more durable seat cushion that won't go flat. Latex foam fill offers premium comfort and lasts longer than memory foam cushions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use these dining chair cushions outside?

No, you should not use cushions from our indoor dining chair collection outside; they would fade and could even mildew.  Please see our Outdoor Dining Chair Cushions collection for Weather Resistant, UV Resistant dining chair pads.

Are gripper pads better than dining chair cushions with ties?

If you're worried about how to keep chair pads in place, we feel like dining chair pads with ties offer a better solution than gripper pads.  Gripper pads have several downsides.  Adding a sheet of gripper shelf liner or rug liner under a chair pad with ties gives you the best of both, with none of the downsides. Read our blog post about how to stop cushions from slipping to learn more.

How to clean dining chair cushions:

Although some of our competitors are starting to advertise that their cushions are machine washable, most polyester fill cushions do not hold up well to machine washing.  But we have more than 40 cushions in this collection that are designed to be truly machine washable. Our tufted cushions have extra tacking-stitches to keep fill in place, and our latex foam fill actually benefits from getting wet. Rather than making cushions with removable covers, our products are designed for you to throw the whole cushion into the washing machine, to refresh the foam as well as the fabric. This helps the latex foam last longer and stay fluffy over time.

You can see which of our cushions are Machine Washable or Stain-Resistant on the Care and Specifications tab on the product page. You can find detailed instructions on how to wash chair pads on our Care Instructions page, along with a great video tutorial by Youtuber Kate Schwanke.

What's the difference between indoor dining chair cushions and outdoor dining chair cushions?

Our indoor dining chair cushions are sized specifically for dining room table and chair sets, which tend to be smaller than outdoor dining sets.  We looked up the dimensions of the most popular brands of dining room furniture and determined that we needed to offer our cushions in three sizes to fit most dining chairs: Standard, Extra-Large, and Executive.  Other than size differences, interior design trends for dining rooms and kitchens tend be different than what you would see on the patio.  Neutral colors and traditional colors such as wine red or navy blue are more popular for indoor dining chair pads. Patterns popular for dining decor include ticking stripe, buffalo plaid, gingham check, basketweave, and boucle.

Outdoor dining chairs tend to come in larger sizes and require different performance fabrics. We suggest that you browse our Garden Collection for outdoor cushion sets, Garden Collection cushions are made with UV resistant, weather resistant fabrics.  Exterior design trends tend towards bright colors and earth tones, while solid color cushions and striped cushions are popular patterns.

What's the difference between dining chair cushions and kitchen chair pads?

Our size standard dining cushions fit many brands of kitchen chairs, including many bar-height chairs and counter stools, but it's important to measure your chairs before you order.  If you're not confident about how to measure dining chair cushions, visit our Size Guide for illustrated measuring guides and videos.  Aside from size differences, brighter colors are more popular for kitchen chair cushions than formal dining room chair cushions.

Does Barnett carry dining chair cushions with backs?

Customers looking for cushions for high backed dining chairs can check if our rocking chair cushions fit their dining chairs.  If not, many customers choose to purchase extra seat cushions to use as back cushions; since our u-shaped dining chair cushions are curved along the back / top, this looks best on Windsor chairs and other bow back chairs.
