Barcodes are machine readable patterns representing UPCs (Universal Product Codes) that are black and white and not necessarily all that visually appealing.
The namesake barcode stripe features the lines that vary in width but the overall pattern relies on a limited color palette. Monochromatic color combinations --- same color in slightly different hues and tints --- are most common referred to as barcode stripes since they best mimic actual barcodes.
Larger varieties of stripes include awning stripe and cabana stripe. There is the single color stripes of candy stripe and ticking stripe.
