How to Contribute
About the Breast Cancer Research Foundation
The mission of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation is to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world's most promising research.
BCRF is the highest rated Breast Cancer charity in the nation, with an A+ rating from CharityWatch.org and a 4 star rating from Charity Navigator. Unlike some very well known not-for-profit organizations that pay executive salaries in the upper six digits, this organiztion has a very low overhead. You can feel good knowing that 91% or more of funds raised by BCRF go directly to breast cancer research.
The organization has funded over 9 million hours of breast cancer research, including contributions to advances in the use of genetic information to identify the most effective therapies for individual patients, clinical trials for new medications, and the development of treatments for drug resistant breast cancers. You can learn more at http://www.bcrfcure.org/
Resources for those who are fighting breast cancer
If you, or someone you know, is fighting breast cancer, please take a moment to visit breastcancer.org. The mission of breastcancer.org is to help women and their loved ones make sense of the complex medical and personal information about breast health and breast cancer, so they can make the best decisions for their lives. Information is available about symptoms & diagnosis, treatments & side affects, and ways to reduce your risk. All information on the website is reviewed by a board of 70 medical professionals.
Take it from our President, breast cancer survivor and all-around wonder woman Barbara Harris: whether you need information because you're newly diagnosed, you've just learned that you're at high risk, you want to support a loved one, or you're feeling overwhelmed, breastcancer.org is the place to start. Breastcancer.org/community offers strategies for day to day coping and a community of fighters, survivors and caregivers who will be by your side.
Other causes we support
All About Animals Rescue
We are pleased to support our local no-kill animal shelter with donations of our products and fabrics that can be used as pet beds or sold at their monthly fund-raising yard sale.
If you're thinking of purchasing a pet from a pet store or breeder, please think again! Healthy, loving, well-socialized animals are waiting for you at your local no-kill animal shelter! If you're reluctant to adopt a shelter animal because you think that shelter animals will have behavioral problems, ask your shelter to meet pets who have been living in foster care or who have been receiving visits from a Read to Me program! These animals experience less anxiety and transition well to regular home life. Looking for a specific breed? Register with your shelter and they'll notify you by email about animals matching your breed; you'd be surprised how many pure-bred animals enter shelters.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat helps families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security by helping low-income families with affordable homes. With an affordable, stable home, families have more to spend on food, medicine, child care, education and other essentials.
We're proud to contribute to our local Habitat for Humanity chapter by periodically donating textile home goods to help furnish new homes.
